对于识别和测量的目的，在研究工作中，主要采用两种方法，定性和定量的方法。定性方法主要用于寻找个人的特点，并没有如任何测量所涉及的。但另一方面，我们可以看到，定量的方法基本上是寻找关于个人数据的目的的测量或量的参与（Robert Murray Thomas，2003，p.1）。定性的方法主要是附着在聚焦个体对自己的思想、经验、生活方式，观察并了解他们的问题（Robert Murray Thomas，2003，第2页）。定量的方法用于定义对其外部的经验和与测量的参与关系相关事情的识别（科恩，Manion，墨里森，2000，p.8），识别对资优生的目的，我选择了定性的方法。定性的方法是最适合我的研究文献的研究工作（Asher Sheke，2005，p.17）因为它用来反映的理念和他们的经验的个人感觉通过采访表示他们并与他们进行对话。研究天才和天才学生，不需要有固定的数据量来衡量他们的陈述，但需要有一些谈话和使用一些工具的采访，了解他们所面临的挑战和问题。定性研究主要用于了解资优学生的社会行为。
For the identification and measurement purposes in research work, mostly two approaches are used, which are qualitative and quantitative approaches. The qualitative approach mainly used for the purpose of finding about the characteristics of individual and there is not as such any measurement are involved. But on the other side, we can see that the quantitative approach is basically involvement of the measurement or amounts for the purpose of finding data about the individual (Robert Murray Thomas, 2003, p.1). The qualitative approach is mainly attached in focusing the individual about their thinking, their experiences, lifestyle, observations and also about their problems (Robert Murray Thomas, 2003, p.2). The quantitative approach used to define about the identification of things relevant to their outer experiences and relationships with the involvement of measurement (Cohen, Manion, Morrison, 2000, p.8).For the purpose of identifying about the gifted and talented students, I selected the qualitative approach. The qualitative approach is most appropriate for my research work in reference of study (Asher Sheke, 2005, p.17) because it used to reflect about the ideas and senses of the individuals for representation of their experiences by interviewing them and making some conversation with them. To make research about the gifted and the talented students, there was no need of having fixed amount of data to measure about their representations but there were need to have some conversation and using some tools of interviewing for knowing about the challenges and the problems they have. The qualitative research is mainly used for knowing about the social behavior of the gifted student.
